so the story goes here. sorry this post is a day late but here is a story of an extraordinary man. He goes by DK, some call him Doug.
Rewind a few years ago, to a marriage. A special one. one that made me late for work.
i took an alternate route because I thought it was faster. turned down the street to it being closed. I thought to myself I know there wasnt a festival, I look up whenever there is one to make plans accordingly. well all of a sudden I hear music. at this point anyone else would have turned around. It was a small brass band having a mini parade or so I thought. next thing I see is a bride and groom. joyously celebrating their newly vowed life together. and while it was beautiful I was also thinking, WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?!! BLOCKING OFF THE A MAJOR STREET FOR A WEDDING???!!!!! I need to get to work. and so it begins. The procession down Market Street, bride, groom, band, and all of the guests dancing and celebrating the newlyweds.
eventually I do turn my car around, in disgust because A) I am super late for work and B) this wedding was the greatest thing I witnessed and honestly, being freshly single at the time, I was irritated by Love.
Fast forward a few years, I get to know this couple a tad bit, and didn't realize until 2 days after your death that your wedding caused me to be late for work and I remember trying to explain to my boss I ran into a wedding..
Only in York City, only with the Knights.
RIP Doug-the man of all things York.
forever Honored to meet and know you
